Job Summary

SHI is looking for an Ethics & Compliance Officer to join the HR Strategy Team. They will be responsible for overseeing SHI’s operational processes and procedures in countries where SHI conducts business (outside of the United States). Their duty will be to serve as SHI’s internal control point for maintaining The SHI’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and communicating/ promoting applicable organization compliance trainings. The Ethics & Compliance Officer will also provide leadership advice on corporate governance issues across all SHI International business segments. 

 

This position will report to the Sr. Director of Strategic Initiatives within the Human Resources department. The location of this position will be determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Include, but not limited to:

  • Monitors operational processes and procedures, ensuring the company complies with legal regulations and ethical standards. 
  • Manages information flow by researching, recording, and analyzing data and information.  
  • Engaging with legal consultants and third parties to confirm and establish best practices in countries where SHI conducts business. 
  • Conducts compliance risk assessments to determine policies remain compliant and business runs smoothly.  
  • With oversight from SHI Legal develops and maintains corporate ethics statements, policies and supporting forms/acknowledgements. 
  • Provides internal reviews of SHI policies to ensure consistency and integration with the organization’s ethics philosophies. 
  • Oversees the development and implementation of corporate ethics and conflict training. 
  • Works independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support delivery and administration of ethics and conflict training. 
  • With guidance from legal counsel, conducts annual corporate governance audits to determine the state of the organization and presents findings to senior leadership. 
  • Develops and maintains confidential procedures for the handling, processing and investigations of complaints and allegations. 
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of corporate governance requirements, compliance and reporting responsibilities, and related legal benchmarks from federal and state law. 
  • Collaborate and engage in understanding of Environment Social Governance reporting requirements to obtain and support international qualifications. 
  • Performs other HR related duties as assigned by leadership.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 4+ years’ related experience in Ethics and Compliance or Risk Management
  • Current human resource and/or compensation credentials or certification preferred

  • Strong data analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances and policies
  • Proactive, collaborative, diplomatic and able to balance multiple, contending initiatives and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strategic planning abilities to design and develop business goals, in line with company initiatives
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
