Job Summary

The Instructional Designer will design and develop online learning modules, training guides, and supporting training materials for SHI employees.  The Instructional Designer’s purpose is to facilitate SHI employee’s acquisition of knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner across a variety of SHI specific and general business topics.  This position reports to the Manager of Instructional Design in our Learning & Development organization.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to the following:  

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to identify audience’s training needs, define learning objectives and develop online course content & materials
  • Outline the concept for a course or curriculum, define the course medium, content delivery, assessments, and accompanying training materials
  • Curate relevant content from third-party training providers to create playlists, curricula, and programs that meet SHI business needs
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer of knowledge
  • Write, record and edit the audio script for each course
  • Design tests, knowledge checks, and meaningful course interactions to increase learning and retention
  • Create SCORM-compliant eLearning courses using a variety of software platforms
  • Proof course at multiple stages of development; making edits where necessary
  • Upload and maintain courses in SHI’s Learning Management System, troubleshoot issues as needed
  • Evaluate training program effectiveness & analyze data to ensure SHI business needs are met
  • Keep up to date on modern learning tools, adult learning trends, and instructional design concepts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or university)
  • Minimum 2 years’ previous working experience in instructional design using Articulate Storyline or similar software
  • Experience working with one or more Instructional Design and/or Visual Design tools (ex: Storyline, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Camtasia, Vyond)
  • Working knowledge of a Learning Management System (Docebo and Workday)
  • Experience with SCORM standards & program calls
  • Knowledge & application of adult learning principles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong learning module design skills in order to create engaging content
  • Strong editing and content review skills
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and with accuracy
  • Ability to troubleshoot bugs in learning modules and/or LMS platform
  • Ability to work well in a team or individually
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Productivity Suites (Office/Office 365)

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $70,000 - $105,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
