Job Summary

The Jr. Software Engineer Intern will contribute to designing, implementing, and optimizing automated workflows and orchestration processes. Under guidance, the intern will gain hands-on experience leveraging automation tools to streamline tasks and enhance operational efficiency.   

   

This position will report to the Austin, Texas office location.

Responsibilities

Include, but not limited to:  

  • Analyze and define business needs by researching and partnering with SMEs to formally gather and document business requirements.   
  • Evaluate business processes to determine the feasibility of automation.   
  • Design, build, and deploy automation and orchestrations using SHI’s tools from proof-of-concept to production deployment.   
  • Develop and implement new automation programs and processes in a DevOps/Agile environment.   
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing automation programs.   
  • Collaborate with different teams and be responsible for multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.   
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code testing, validation, deployment, and performance   

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in good academic standing working towards a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field  
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Powershell, Go, or Ruby  
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies APIs for vSphere, AWS, and Azure  
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Github/Gitlab  
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure components and configuration management

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose problems

Unique Requirements

  • The intern selected will be required to work 29 hours a week over a specified 12-week duration.  

Additional Information

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00/Hr.
