Job Summary

The purpose of the GEA Strategist position is to facilitate relationships and coordinate legislative efforts on the state and local level within a given territory. The GEA Strategist will work at the direction of the Director of Government and Education Affairs and with Account Executives and SHI’s government consultants to help position SHI as an industry leader, support brand recognition, and increase revenue.

 

The GEA Strategist will report to the Sr. Director of Government & Education Affairs and is required to report to the SHI Somerset, NJ office location.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and facilitate relationships with state and local C-level executives, IT leadership, technology and procurement decision makers, and elected officials
  • Articulate the company’s capabilities as a full-service technology solutions company to existing and potential customers
  • Influence state and local government strategy by collecting customer feedback and information and disseminating it to the appropriate internal stakeholders within SHI departments.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Government and Education Affairs to identify and coordinate strategic meetings with key customer decision makers to increase state and local government sales
  • Assist the Director of Government & Education Affairs to represent SHI at technology trade shows, conferences, industry events, and meetings and disseminate relevant information obtained or connections made with the appropriate stakeholders internally
  • Assist with business development by using information from consultants and by identifying and tracking new opportunities using tools like Deltek GovWin and GovSpend
  • Participate in and monitor the work between SHI’s consultants and Account Executives.
  • Assist the Director of Government & Education Affairs in collaborating with the writing team to develop strategic communication plans to educate customers on changing policies and SHI’s ability to assist
  • Coordinate with the Director of Government & Education Affairs and SHI’s Proposals Team to ensure consultants and the necessary stakeholders are included in the proposal process and to help position SHI to win state and local government contracts
  • Develop and maintain partner contacts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in politics, public administration, political science, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in government or research institution within a government affairs capacity
  • Deep understanding of the legislative process and the political landscape, including workings, processes, procedures, and protocol of government
  • Strong network of government and institutional relationships and ability to maintain that network
  • Understanding of Government Affairs industry
  • Strong familiarity with the public sector engagement and procurement process
  • Experience working with diverse teams and a variety of stakeholders, executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions
  • Experience working on technology-related policy and regulatory matters
  • Experience successfully managing large cross-functional projects

Unique Requirements

  • Travel within the US to attend conferences, customer events and meetings (Approximately 40 percent)

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $65,000 - $125,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
