Job Summary

The Jr. IT Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience in cloud or network environments, supporting the deployment and maintenance of cloud infrastructure on platforms like AWS and Azure. This internship provides a comprehensive opportunity to develop technical skills and gain insights into real-world IT operations in a supportive and innovative environment. 

This position will report to the Somerset, NJ office location

Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to

 

Cloud: 

  •  Assist in deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure on platforms (AWS and Azure). 
  •  Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments to ensure optimal performance and uptime. 
  •  Collaborate with the team to implement security best practices for cloud systems. 
  •  Assist in automating tasks and workflows using scripting languages and tools. 
  •  Document cloud architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. 

 

Network: 

  • Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware and software. 
  • Monitor network performance and ensure optimal uptime and connectivity. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including connectivity, bandwidth, and security concerns. 
  • Support the implementation of network upgrades and improvements. 
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and policies. 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the secure operation of the network. 
  • Perform routine network health checks and report findings.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in good academic standing working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts, services, and platforms or networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and devices (routers, switches, firewalls). 
  • Familiarity with virtualization, containers, and networking fundamentals or with network monitoring tools and operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux). 
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. 
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment. 
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and challenges. 
  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions. 
  • Strong time-management skills. 

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Cisco, Palo Alo, or similar networking technologies. 
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform. 
  • Familiarity with scripting languages. 
  • Understanding of cloud security and compliance principles. 
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices. 

 

Unique Requirements

  • The intern selected will be required to work 29 hours a week over a specified 12-week duration.  

Additional Information

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00/Hr.
