Job Summary

The Risk Manager will identify, assess, and rank the possible risks to the company. This role requires developing and executing plans to reduce those risks, with the final aim of securing our company's lasting success.

 

The Risk Manager will work under the Head of Risk and Resiliency and will play a key role in the execution and improvement of the Risk Management Program and tools. The Risk Manager will create a suitable control environment and drive process enhancement projects as needed.

 

This position will be reporting to the SHI Somerset NJ office as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Include, but not limited to:

  • Identify and assess potential risks to the organization, including operational, financial, reputational, and strategic risks.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures to ensure the risks are effectively managed within the organization's risk appetite.
  • Work closely with all departments to understand the risks associated with their operations and provide advice on risk mitigation measures.
  • Monitor and report on risks in a timely manner. Develop risk reports for management and board review.
  • Provide training and support to staff to build risk awareness within the organization.
  • Conduct audits of policy and compliance to standards and control assessments, including liaising with internal and external auditors.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes related to risk management.
  • Mentor and lead risk team by providing guidance and advice.
  • Maintain/support the Risk and Resiliency (R&R) tool(s) which may also include interfaces with other ancillary systems.
  • Accountable to develop and coordinate communication and training of the firm’s Risk Management Framework
  • Mature standard document library and process flows for new projects and applications.
  • Enhance the firm’s Risk and Control libraries, Risk Register, and evaluate accuracy and completeness of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
  • Validate and review controls for third parties, key business projects, business changes and health check events.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to strengthen the firm’s control environment, improve efficiencies and increase cost savings.
  • Develop management reporting, metrics (KPIs, KRIs) and engage management on appropriate actions.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the risk team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective implementation of the risk framework.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Evaluate team performance, providing feedback and development opportunities to enhance skills and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field preferred. A master’s degree or relevant certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM) would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience as a risk manager or in a similar role with 7-10 years risk management experience with a strong understanding of operational risk and business process improvements methods
  • 5+ years of experience as a People Manager or similar role.
  • 3-5 years of experience implementing or managing an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and foster a positive team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Risk Management, Business Continuity Management Cybersecurity, and Information Technology standards and best practices, including governance frameworks (ISO 31000, 27001, 22301, NIST, ITIL, etc.)
  • Experienced with GRC Risk Management tools, and related interfaces.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Able to build and foster strong working relationships to influence and drive organizational engagement.
  • Proficient computer skills required, experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Outlook).

Certifications Required

Industry certifications a plus:

  • CRM/ PRM Certification

Unique Requirements

  • Position requires >25 % of travel to meet with internal business groups and/or vendor assessments.
  • Extended hours are required to complete special projects.

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $120,000 - $135,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
